The current generation of Nissan mid-size SUV has been around since 2015 and it looks like it will be replaced soon. If we can trust the latest reports, the new model could come already in the next year, as the 2023 Nissan Murano. Siblings like the Pathfinder and Rogue have just been redesigned, so we believe that now it’s time for this one to get a completely new iteration. We are still waiting for the official confirmation.
The new generation of Murano would certainly bring a lot of novelties. Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is a completely new styling, but we also count on big mechanical updates. Naturally, the interior will also be all-new, with more attractive aesthetics, nicer materials, and better overall quality. Finally, novelties should come under the hood, even though the engine will most likely remain the same.
The all-new 2023 Nissan Murano should arrive sometime in the second half of 2022.
2023 Nissan Murano Redesign
If we look at Nissan’s latest redesigns, it looks like the Japanese company practices evolutionary changes, rather than radical changes. So, the 2023 Nissan Murano shouldn’t be an exception. We expect to see the same approach as we saw on the new Pathfinder. In practice, that would mean further development of the well-known D platform.
Even though the platform would remain the same, we would see all kinds of updates, starting from a completely new chassis and suspension setup. Of course, the focus will be on making the new model better to drive. The biggest complaint about the current model goes to unresponsive steering and a general lack of athleticism, so we may expect Japanese engineers to improve this aspect. Still, we believe that comfort will once again be in the focus.
Exterior
Naturally, the most notable changes will be those regarding exterior design. What’s interesting about Murano is that all generations featured 111.2 inches in wheelbase so far. So, we may expect the same thing from the new 2023 Nissan Murano. Still, the overall size could change for a bit. We presume it could become slightly wider and longer, which would bring benefits regarding interior space.
Naturally, we expect to see a completely new styling. At this point, it’s hard to talk about details but we have no doubt that the 2023 Nissan Murano will be fitted to the brand’s latest design language. This particularly refers to the front end, which should take a lot of inspiration from the new Pathfinder and adopt the latest iteration of the company’s well-known V-Motion design language. When it comes to the overall shape, some sources suggest that the Murano could come with a sloping roof design, but that’s just a rumor for now.
Interior
Naturally, the interior design will be all-new too. At this point, we don’t know the details but once again, we should look at the new Pathfinder to get a picture. The new three-row SUV features a pretty impressive cabin, with attractive aesthetics, nice materials and lots of tech features. So, we might expect something similar from the 2023 Nissan Murano. In any case, the cabin should look way more upscale compared to the outgoing model.
As we’ve just mentioned, the new model could become slightly longer and wider and in practice, the biggest benefits from this size increase would be those regarding passenger room. We presume that this model will continue as a two-row crossover, so there should be plenty of room for passengers in both rows. The cargo area should become slightly bigger as well, though it’s still early to talk about the exact numbers.
2023 Nissan Murano Engines
Most likely, the new 2023 Nissan Murano will continue with the same engine under the hood. That would be a well-known 3.5-liter V6, which is currently tuned at 260 horsepower for this model. Of course, the new generation could come with a little bit more power but what’s more important is a new transmission. The current generation features a little bit uninspiring CVT gearbox and that will change soon, fortunately.
The 2023 Nissan Murano is about to feature a 9-speed automatic transmission and we do not doubt that this gearbox will significantly improve the ride quality.
Some sources also speculate about electrification. Allegedly, the new generation could also come in a hybrid version, though the details about the powertrain are still unavailable.

We expect that the 2023 Nissan Murano could come sometime in the second half of the next year, with a starting price of around 33.000 dollars. The officials are still quiet. When it comes to competition, some of the models that come to mind are Chevy Blazer, Ford Edge, Honda Passport etc.
