2023 Lexus RX 450h Redesign: Release Date, Hybrid, Price

The super-popular luxury SUV is coming completely redesigned for the next year and just like it was expected, it brings all kinds of novelties. Of course, there is a completely new design, along with a new interior and lots of new tech features. One of the most interesting aspects of the new generation will be a completely new powertrain lineup. The V6 is out and all new versions will be based on four-cylinder units, while three of them will be hybrids. Among those three, you will also find a version called 2023 Lexus RX 450h.

More precisely, the new model will be called RX 450h+ and that additional “+” means that it will feature a plug-in hybrid setup, instead of a classic hybrid powertrain. The new model will be pretty capable and it will also offer a respectable all-electric range. However, we are still waiting for the officials to come up with the exact numbers.

The all-new 2023 Lexus RX 450h should arrive this fall.

2023 Lexus RX 450h Design

AS we already mentioned, the RX is about to receive a complete redesign and one of the novelties will be the addition of the 2023 Lexus RX 450h+ version. Other than the powertrain, this version won’t be much different than the rest of the lineup. Therefore, you may count on a completely new design, based on the company’s new TNGA platform.

The new design will bring various improvements, starting from a 198-pound weight reduction. Furthermore, the new model will feature a lower center of gravity, which should additionally improve driving characteristics.

Of course, this redesign also brings a new exterior design, with some pretty interesting changes. You can notice that the new generation doesn’t feature spindle grille design anymore, but rather comes with a more conventional design approach. Also, the new model features bigger dimensions that its predecessor, including a 2.4-inch longer wheelbase.

Interior

Of course, this redesign also brings a completely new interior and the 2023 Lexus RX 450h+ won’t be any different than the rest of the lineup. There is a completely new dashboard design, which is simple and elegant. Also, it is highlighted by the new 14.0-inch infotainment screens. It’s worth mentioning that the new RX uses a touchscreen interface, instead of the previous-generation touchpad-based layout.

The new generation brings further improvements regarding build quality, while the materials are nicer than before. Also, we expect more passenger space from the new model, due to the longer wheelbase. More cargo room is expected as well.

Features

The outgoing generation is already pretty generous with standard equipment. So, the new 2023 Lexus RX 450h+ could only get better. We already mentioned the new 14.0-inch infotainment screen, but we expect that base models will also come standard with goodies like a digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, Wi-Fi hotspot, voice recognition, premium audio system etc.

When it comes to safety features, we expect all models equipped with standard safety features like a rearview camera, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, lane keep assist, lane centering assist, adaptive cruise control, and driver monitoring.

 2023 Lexus RX 450h Powertrain

The all-new 2023 Lexus RX 450h+ will come with a familiar moniker but it will feature a completely new setup. Instead of a V6-based system, it will come with a plug-hybrid setup. At this point, this is the only version that still has to come up with power figures.

Still, we have no doubt that the whole system will be pretty similar to the Lexus NX450+ model, which features a plug-in hybrid setup with 302 horsepower and 40 miles of the all-electric range. The new 2023 RX 450h+ will probably come with a slight power increase, we believe.

The rest of the lineup will include gasoline and two more hybrid powertrains. Base models will come with a 275-hp 2.4-liter turbo-four, while the RX 350h will come with a setup that’s pretty similar to the Highlander’s hybrid powertrain, based on a  2.5-liter gasoline engine and two electric motors. The total output will go around 246 horsepower. Finally, the flagship RX 500h will come with a hybrid system that’s based on a turbo-four engine, with a total output of 367 horsepower.
