2023 Lexus RX 350 Redesign: What We Know So Far

When you think about a luxury SUV, the RX is the first name that comes to mind for most of us. The legendary nameplate has been around for nearly 25 years and the current generation is still the best-selling model in the class, by a pretty large margin. That’s why the Japanese manufacturer isn’t rushing with the redesign, even though most rivals are younger and look fresher. According to the latest reports, the 2022 model year will certainly come without changes but the 2023 Lexus RX 350 could already be a completely new model.

At this point, the all-new 2023 Lexus RX 350 is just a rumor. The officials are still quiet, so we can only speculate about design characteristics. Of course, many things will change and while some aspects of the next model are an easy guess, some are still a mystery. We believe that the new model could hit the market already in the second half of 2022.

2023 Lexus RX 350 Redesign

There is no doubt that this redesign is going to bring a lot of novelties. The first thing that comes to mind is the platform. While the current generation still rides on a good-old K platform, the new 2023 Lexus RX 350 will certainly adopt the new TNGA architecture, which brings numerous benefits. This particularly refers to the ride quality, considering that the current model isn’t particularly fun to drive.

Still, we are pretty sure that Lexus designers won’t change the character of the vehicle. This is one of the most comfortable SUVs in the segment, with an incredibly smooth ride that amortizes road imperfections in such a nice fashion.

Of course, the exterior design will be completely new and one of the things we should speculate about is the size. The current model is among the smallest in the segment, so we have no doubt that the new generation will feature a little bit longer wheelbase and overall length. A long-wheelbase version is expected as well, which will feature three rows of seats and more cargo space.

The new styling is another certain thing that is coming. While it’s still hard to talk about details, we are pretty sure that the overall layout won’t change too much. We count on evolutionary changes only, considering that the current model already looks very impressive. So, you may expect an even more prominent spindle grille, combined with sharper headlights and similar things.

If you look at the current model’s interior, it really looks good. It features impressive build quality and pretty nice materials. However, it looks less extravagant compared to German rivals, so we presume that the new 2023 Lexus RX 350 interior will come with a little bit more flashy details. Still, we don’t expect that the new dashboard will go too far, considering that typical Lexus drivers don’t like too many kitschy details, something that can be found in rival models like Mercedes-Benz GLE Class.

As we already mentioned, both two- and three-row models are expected. Standard–wheelbase versions will come with two rows of seats and a decent cargo volume. We expect slight improvements compared to the current model but not too much. On the other side, the three-row model should come with a notably longer wheelbase, which should ensure enough space in the third row, which isn’t the case in the current-generation model.

Another big novelty that’s expected is a new infotainment system. This particularly refers to the user interface, as we hope that the current Remote Touch will be replaced with either a touchscreen or a more convenient knob. Of course, many other advanced tech features are also expected.

2023 Lexus RX 350 Engines

The current generation comes in two variants – with a gasoline V6 engine and with a hybrid powertrain. When it comes to the new 2023 Lexus RX 350, we presume it will keep the same V6 engine. Many buyers still prefer this smooth naturally-aspirated engine.

The rest of the lineup should be all about electrification. First of all, we count on a classic hybrid version and while some sources suggest the same or similar setup to the Highlander, we expect Lexus to retain a V6-based setup because it’s smoother and more powerful.

Finally, there is the possibility to see an all-electric version. At this point, this is pure speculation.
