2023 Cadillac XT4 Facelift: What We Know So Far

Cadillac’s entry-level crossover has been around since 2018 and a mid-cycle refresh was planned for the 2022 model year. However, this facelift has been delayed, due to the Coronavirus pandemics. The refreshed version will eventually arrive by the end of this year, as the 2023 Cadillac XT4, but the officials are still quiet about the changes. We presume that the focus will be on the styling updates, though we also expect to see novelties regarding the standard and available features.

However, these updates and changes won’t change the overall design of the crossover. We will see a familiar layout, with familiar characteristics. So, you may count on an updated SUV but on familiar pros like spacious seats, large cargo area, long list of standard equipment etc. Unfortunately, some aspects of the vehicle won’t be fixed, things like subpar interior quality or lackluster engine performance.

We expect to see the updated model sometime in the second half of the year.

As we’ve just mentioned, the officials are still quiet about the updates. We don’t know the details but we presume that the focus will be on styling updates. Of course, it’s pretty much for sure that most changes will be made to the front end, where we might see revisions in terms of grille, headlights, bumper etc. The rest of the vehicle shouldn’t change much, though we expect to see things like new color options, new wheels and similar things.

On the other hand, the mechanical aspect of the vehicle will remain unchanged. We are about to see a familiar layout, based on the E2 platform, which normally underpins compact crossovers like Chevy Equinox and GMC Terrain. The XT4 officially belongs to the subcompact segment but its long wheelbase makes it feel notably bigger. The ride is well-balanced and offers a bit of comfort and a bit of athleticism.

Interior

Bigger interior changes probably won’t happen, though we would like to see some improvements regarding sound insulation, which isn’t great in the current model. The overall interior design probably won’t change much, which means that you can count on decent cabin quality. You won’t find too many fancy materials, but the build quality feels decent enough, so we can’t complain much. Still, the fact is that most rivals look more luxurious from the inside.

On the other hand, this SUV impresses with its passenger space, which is generous in both rows of seats. The front ones are massive and supportive, while those in the second row also accommodate adults with ease. The cargo area also offers some pretty decent numbers. You may count on 22.5 cubic feet behind the second row and 49 cubic feet of the total cargo volume.

Features

Of course, we expect to see some new standard and available features after this facelift. Unfortunately, details are still unavailable but we presume that some new tech and convenience features could be introduced.

For reference, the current model comes standard with goodies like an 8-inch touch screen, a seven-speaker stereo, satellite radio, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, four USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Bluetooth, dual-zone automatic climate control, remote start, and proximity keyless entry. The list of standard equipment also includes several safety and driver-assistance features, such as a rearview camera, parking sensors, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection etc.

We presume that some of the current optional features may become standard. Currently, the list of available features includes things like a 13-speaker Bose stereo, wireless device charging, navigation and a sunroof. The same thing goes for available safety features, such as automatic high beams, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, surround-view camera, adaptive headlights, head-up display, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and reverse automatic emergency braking etc.

2023 Cadillac XT4 Engine

Things under the hood most likely won’t change. The 2023 Cadillac XT4 will continue with a single engine option, a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine, which features a max output of 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The engine is paired with a  9-speed automatic transmission, which does a decent job. The biggest complaint actually goes to the engine noise, especially at higher speeds. Standard models come with front-wheel drive, while AWD versions are available too.

When it comes to fuel economy, you may count on something like 24 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway, which is about average for the segment. Of course, models with all-wheel drive are a little bit thirstier.

2023 Cadillac XT4 Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2023 Cadillac XT4 will arrive sometime in the second half of the year and that the price won’t change significantly. The current model starts at around 37.000 dollars. Key competitors are models like BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA, Lexus UX etc.
