2023 BMW X4 Preview: M, Specs, Features, Changes, Price

If we consider that the 2022 model year has brought some pretty big updates, it’s pretty much a certain thing that the 2023 BMW X4 will continue in the same way. We don’t expect to see any bigger changes, especially not in terms of aesthetics, considering that the recent update has brought a lot of styling novelties. We also saw an upgraded infotainment system, so it’s hard to expect bigger novelties on the inside as well. On the other hand, there’s always room for minor updates, such as novelties on the list of standard equipment, new color options and similar things.

In any case, you may count on familiar features from the 2023 BMW X4. Besides the attractive styling, this crossover also offers capable powertrain options, engaging handling and quality interior. Furthermore, the new infotainment system is great. On the other hand, the biggest issue is practicality, due to the sloping roof design. The cargo area is small, while the second row doesn’t offer too much headroom either.

As there are no bigger changes to come, we expect to see the 2023 X4 sometime late in the year.

2023 BMW X4 Design

Design-wise, the 2023 BMW X4 will carry on in the same way. We are about to see a familiar design, which will include all the novelties that came with the recent refresh. The recent update was mostly about styling updates, and we saw things like a new grille, new headlights, bumpers, wheels etc. Therefore, the only thing the next year’s model could bring are new color options, though even that doesn’t seem particularly likely.

In terms of mechanics, this crossover has the most in common with the X3 model. They share the platform, wheelbase and most of the parts. The main difference is in the sloping roof design, which makes this crossover look more like a coupe, compared to the X3’s more conventional design.

Interior

This aspect won’t bring bigger changes either. We are about to see a familiar layout, which has a lot of good things to offer. This particularly refers to the cabin quality, which is pretty impressive. The dashboard looks attractive, the materials are nice, and the build quality is very good. Furthermore, we like the new infotainment system, which is intuitive and offers crisp graphics.

2023 BMW X4 Interior

The front seats are pretty spacious. We like their design too, which ensures plenty of comfort and support. The rear seats are generous with legroom but, on the other hand, headroom isn’t all that impressive. Of course, it’s because of the sloping roof design.

For the same reason, the cargo area is small by the standard of this segment. It offers around 18.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind its rear seats and 50.5 cubic feet with these seats folded.

Features

Novelties in this aspect are always possible. Still, we are pretty sure that most of the things are about to remain the same. Base models should come standard with goodies like a 12.3-inch touch screen, navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, two USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, HD Radio, and a 12-speaker stereo, as well as with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, remote keyless entry, push-button start, tri-zone automatic climate control, and a panoramic moonroof. Among optional features, expect to find goodies like proximity keyless entry remote start, gesture control, satellite radio, and a 16-speaker stereo.

The same thing is with safety features. Therefore, all models should come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane departure warning, driver attention monitoring, automatic high beams etc. The list of optional safety features should include things like surround-view camera, hands-free parallel park assists, adaptive cruise control with a low-speed assist, lane keep assist, head-up display etc.

2023 BMW X4 Engines

The 2023 BMW X4 will continue with three familiar engine options. Base models will carry on with a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out 248 horsepower. While that’s enough for a convenient ride, we find the optional 3.0-liter inline-six a much better choice, especially if we consider the max output that goes around 382 horsepower.

For those who look for ultimate performance, the M version is available too. It also comes with an inline-six engine but the max output goes up to 473 horsepower. Furthermore, there is also the M Competition version, which increases output to 503 horsepower.

All engines come with 8-speed automatic transmission.

2023 BMW X4 Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2023 BMW X4 will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 52.000 dollars. Key competitors will be models like Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe, Porsche Macan etc.
