The most popular SUV of this Korean manufacturer went through a long journey from being a model that uses the old Mercedes-Benz platform and Toyota’s transmission to a product that is completely a work of the company’s engineers. Today’s Rexton is a pretty tough player on the market, which has so many great things to offer, starting from one of the most luxurious cabins in the segment. It also comes with a pretty efficient diesel engine, while the list of standard equipment is pretty long as well. After the last-year facelift, the 2022 SsangYong Rexton should continue in the same way.
So, you may count on a model that now features a pretty attractive styling, which comes in a combination with a capable engine and new transmission. Furthermore, this SUV is quite practical, as it comes with three rows of seats and a decent cargo area.

2022 SsangYong Rexton Redesign
Design-wise, this model won’t be much different compared to the 2017 model year, which was the initial version of the current, second generation. Just like the original, this model also rides on a truck-based, fully framed platform. However, it is lighter and bigger. Also, you may count on a quite refined suspension setup, which includes double-wishbone at the front and 5-link coil springs at the rear end.
The last year’s update has brought a lot of interesting novelties. First of all, there is a new styling, which includes new LED headlights, a new grille and several more upgrades. Also, this update has brought novelties under the hood, as the new model now features transmission developed by Hyundai. Also, the diesel engine has been upgraded and now features more power.
When it comes to interior design, the next year’s model shouldn’t bring any bigger change. This model already looks really nice, surprisingly luxurious. As we already mentioned, the current generation is notably bigger than the original, so it’s no wonder it packs three rows of seats. The first two are very generous with space and accommodate adults with ease. The third row is typically tight for the segment but can be pretty useful in certain situations. The cargo area offers around 641L of space behind the third row, expanding to 1806L with the second and third rows folded flat. That’s pretty good for the segment.
Yearly updates usually bring novelties of this kind, so we won’t be surprised if we see 2022 SsangYong Rexton with a couple of new things on the list of standard equipment. Still, most of the things should remain the same, considering that the current model is already pretty impressive in this aspect. Base versions feature goodies like 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, ventilated and power-adjustable front seats, keyless entry and start, tyre-pressure monitoring, automatic high-beam, and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Additionally, you can get upgrades like a surround-view camera, leather seat trim, wireless phone charging, a heated steering wheel, a powered tailgate, a single-pane sunroof, backlit door sill plates, and 20-inch alloy wheels.
When it comes to safety features, all models come standard with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors etc.
2022 SsangYong Rexton Engines
As we’ve just mentioned, the recent facelift has brought upgrades under the hood as well. There is a new version of a familiar 2.2-liter turbodiesel, which now features a max output of 200 horsepower (148kW) and 440 Nm of torque. Also, it comes in pair with a new 8-speed automatic transmission. The max towing capacity goes up to 3.500kg.
On some markets, you can also get a version with a 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine, which is good for about 220horsepower (165kW) and 350 Nm of max torque.
2022 SsangYong Rexton Release Date and Price
