The year of 2020 was pretty tough for Renault Nissan Group but things should be better in the next year, as the next generation of the company’s best-seller in Europe is coming completely new. Of course, we are talking about the 2022 Nissan Qashqai, which will come with significant changes. After the Juke and Rogue, it’s time for this one to bring a completely new layout.
At this point, we already know a lot of details about the new generation. It will bring improvements in various aspects, starting from a new platform and chassis. Of course, you may count on new styling and interior design, while we are also about to see new powertrain options. The new model will be all about electrification, so we are about to see both hybrid and mild-hybrid systems. On the other side, it looks like Qashqai is done with diesels. We expect to see the new 2022 Nissan Qashqai sometime in the second half of the year.
2022 Nissan Qashqai Redesign
The upcoming redesign is about to bring a lot of novelties. Officially, the new model will carry on with a familiar CMF platform. However, the architecture will be significantly updated for this occasion and it will bring significant improvements in terms of performance, efficiency and overall ride quality.
One of the first things we should mention is that the 2022 Nissan Qashqai will utilize new materials, mostly high-strength-steel, so the chassis will be 41-percent stiffer than before. The new model will also be lighter, for about 60 kilograms.
Furthermore, you may count on a new suspension setup. Just like many other carmakers these days, it will offer two variants. Lower-grade models with smaller wheels will use a more basic, torsion beam at the rear end, while more expensive models, with 20-inch wheels will go fully independent.
Exterior
In terms of the exterior design, the new 2022 Nissan Qashqai will also come with lot of novelties. One of the first things that come to mind is the size. You may count on an increase in all aspects, as the new model will add 20 mm in the wheelbase and it will also be 35 mm longer, 32 mm wider and 25 mm taller than the outgoing car. Of course, this promises more room on the inside, as well as better driving characteristics.
Styling-wise, you don’t expect radical changes. The current generation aged pretty well, so there is no doubt that the 2022 Qashqai will continue with the evolution of the brand’s familiar V-Motion design language. Still, count on a little bit sharper approach than before, as well as on a more muscular overall look.
Interior
When it comes to interior design, the dashboard will be completely new. It will offer new design, with better ergonomics and more storage spaces. 2022 Nissan Qashqai Engines
When it comes to powertrain, diesel engines will be dropped from the lineup. Instead, the company will offer a new hybrid version, equipped with a naturally-aspirated engine and total output of around 190 horsepower. For those who are looking for something more conventional, the new model will come also in two petrol variants. You may count on 1.3-liter turbo-petrol, which in base variant delivers around 140 horsepower. A more powerful version will be good for about 160 horses. Both engines will be equipped with a 12V mild-hybrid system.
Also, Nissan promises a completely revised CVT gearbox, which will provide a much better driving experience, along with improvements in terms of efficiency.
2022 Nissan Qashqai Release Date and Price
We expect to see 2022 Nissan Qashqai sometime in the second half of 2021. The price shouldn’t be significantly higher compared to the current model, which starts at around 20.000 Euro. UK models start around £21.600.
