The new generation of the world’s most famous pickup truck has just arrived and once again, we’ve seen a lot of variants in the offer, including models with a diesel engine. Considering that we are talking about an all-new model, it’s quite easy to conclude that the 2022 Ford F-150 Diesel will come without bigger changes. It will represent the second production year of the current generation, so the best we could see in terms of changes would be a couple of tweaks in terms of standard equipment.
Other than that, things are about to remain the same. We are about to see a familiar design, which has brought notable improvement compared to the previous version. The new model is more capable, rides better and comes with more standard equipment. This particular version is a perfect choice for those who are looking for a great balance between performance and efficiency.
Considering that there are no bigger changes to come, we presume that the 2022 Ford F-150 Diesel will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year.
2022 Ford F-150 Diesel Design
Design-wise, this model isn’t much different compared to the rest of the range. Except for the engine, things are pretty much the same as in other models. The recent redesign has brought a lot of novelties, even though most of the changes were evolutionary. We didn’t see anything radical as was the case with the previous generation. Instead, the Blue Oval company continued to evolve its lightweight aluminum and HSS platform and made it more rigid and more durable.
The same thing can be said for the styling. Once again changes were rather evolutionary. So, it’s no wonder that the overall shape isn’t much different compared to the previous generation. The biggest difference is at the front, where you can notice a new face, which provides a more mature look.
The recent redesign has also brought a new cabin design. The new cabin looks nice and we definitely don’t expect to see changes for the 2022 Ford F-150 Diesel. The dashboard looks attractive, while the materials are really nice. Still, we have to say that Ram 1500 looks way better from the inside. It is simply more luxurious and also offers a more comfortable ride.
Still, no one can deny the F-150’s practicality and functionality. The cabin is large and spacious and offers plenty of passenger room. We also like the driving position and overall ergonomics, which are nearly perfect. Of course, you may count on different cab styles in the offer – Regular Cab, Super Cab and Super Crew. The latter can accommodate up to six passengers.
A great thing about the 2022 Ford F-150 Diesel is that this engine will be available across the whole range, almost. Practically, you can get this engine in every model except for the range-topping Limited model. Still, you can get almost everything this truck offers in terms of features.
When it comes to tech goodies, all models come standard with n 8-inch touch screen, a Wi-Fi hot spot, USB ports, Bluetooth, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. Additionally, you can get dual-zone climate control, remote start, 12-inch touch screen, navigation, satellite radio, HD Radio, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and wireless device charging.
When it comes to safety, base models come with a rearview camera, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, and forward automatic emergency braking. You can pay extra for things like adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane keep assist, evasive steering assist, intersection assist, traffic sign recognition, cross traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, a surround-view parking camera system, reverse automatic emergency braking etc.
2022 Ford F-150 Diesel Engine
Despite the redesign, Ford engineers didn’t bother too much with the engine. Instead, the engine remained pretty much the same. We are talking about a familiar 3.0-liter V6, which delivers around 250 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque. A good thing to know is that the max torque is available already at 1.750 rpm, which is one of the reasons why this F-150 doesn’t lag behind rivals in terms of capabilities. Moreover, it can to up 12.200 pounds, which is way better compared to the Silverado 1500 Diesel, which can tow only 9.600 pounds. Still, the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel is the class leader, with a max towing capacity of 12.560 pounds.
This engine is also pretty efficient. In some cases, you can even get 30 mpg on the highway, while the city consumption goes around 22 miles per gallon. All in all, the combined economy usually goes around 25 mpg, which is great for a full-size pickup truck.
2022 Ford F-150 Diesel Release Date and Price
As there are no significant changes to come for the next year, we presume that the 2022 Ford F-150 Diesel will hit the market in the last quarter of 2021. When it comes to the price, base models should go around 42.500 dollars.
