The 2022 Audi Q5 Hybrid brings a couple of interesting upgrades. After the recent update that has brought a few styling tweaks, the latest model comes with a slightly bigger battery package, while there are also few additions in terms of standard and available features and packages. Other than that, things remained pretty much the same and this compact crossover continues to offer quality in various aspects.
You may count on familiar characteristics. This compact crossover is one of the most versatile models in the segment, which is strong is pretty much every field. We like its refined powertrain, as well as its smooth and comfortable ride. Also, this model features one of the nicest cabins in the class, which features excellent build quality and looks really nice. On the other hand, the only major complaint goes to the below-average cargo capacity.
2022 Audi Q5 Hybrid Redesign
In terms of base design characteristics, the 2022 Audi Q5 Hybrid comes without more important changes. However, there are few interesting novelties we should mention. First of all, the S Line appearance package is now part of the standard equipment, so all Q5 models look better than before. Furthermore, the Black Optics package is optional, with upgrades like the blacked exterior, unique wheels etc.
On the other side, the overall layout remains the same. The 2022 Audi Q5 Hybrid ride on a well-balanced chassis, which offers a good balance between comfort and agile handling. Naturally, the multi-link suspension is standard across the range. Furthermore, the relatively conservative styling makes it look fresh, despite that the current generation has been around since 2017.
The biggest change on the inside is that sports seats are now standard. Other than that, the cabin design remains pretty much the same, which definitely isn’t a bad thing. Actually, this is a great thing, considering that the current cabin looks pretty impressive in every aspect. We are talking about one of the nicest cabins in the class.
The first thing you’ll notice is a very nice dashboard design. It looks relatively conservative, but the build quality is excellent. Furthermore, a full load of tech features makes it looks even more upscale.
Both rows of seats offer enough space to accommodate adult passengers. The front row is spacious and accommodates taller passengers easily. Also, the seats are massive and supportive, while the driving position is very good. Also, the visibility is pretty good in all directions. The second row is also pretty spacious, though taller passengers may have little trouble with headroom.
The biggest complaint goes to the cargo area, as we already mentioned. With this crossover, you may count on about 25.8 cubic feet, while the total cargo volume goes up to 54 cubic feet. Compared to class rivals, that’s below average.
The list of standard equipment is pretty long. All models come standard with goodies like tri-zone climate control, auto-dimming rearview mirror, a 10.1-inch touch screen, Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, two USB ports, HD Radio, a 10-speaker stereo, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and wireless device charging etc. Additionally, you can get upgrades like satellite radio, navigation, a premium 19-speaker audio system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, proximity keyless entry, and a panoramic sunroof.
When it comes to safety, the list of standard equipment includes goodies like forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera. Additionally, you can get upgrades like lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, a surround-view parking camera system, a head-up display, traffic sign recognition, and traffic jam assist, which manages braking, acceleration, and steering in low-speed conditions.
2022 Audi Q5 Hybrid Powertrain
When it comes to powertrain, the biggest change is a new, bigger battery. It now features a capacity of 14.1kWh, but Audi doesn’t claim any better all-electric range than before. Officially, this crossover can make about 19 miles in the all-electric mode, though the number can be even better in real life.
On the other hand, the rest of the setup remains the same. This system is based on a familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four engine, which puts out around 250 horsepower. This engine comes in pair with a 141-hp electric motor. The combined output goes up to 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. That’s enough to move this crossover from zero to sixty in flat five seconds, which is faster compared to the version with a V6 engine.
