While the third generation of the legendary small SUV was in production for almost a decade, it looks like the current, fourth generation will feature a much shorter production cycle. This version was launched in 2015 and many reports already suggest a redesign. While we are pretty sure that the company won’t rush with the new mode, we also have no doubt that the new model won’t remain in production for the next four or five years. Therefore, reports about the all-new 2021 Suzuki Grand Vitara may seem too optimistic, but there is no doubt that the new generation will arrive in the next couple of years.
Therefore, we are pretty sure that the 2021 Suzuki Grand Vitara will come with familiar design characteristics, though that doesn’t mean we can’t speculate about the possible novelties in the following years.
2021 Suzuki Grand Vitara Redesign
When it comes to base design characteristics, we have no doubt that the 2021 Suzuki Grand Vitara will continue in the same way. The current generation has been around for about five years but it has also received an update last year. For that occasion, we saw a couple of styling tweaks, particularly at the front, where you can notice a new bumper. Also, there are new wheels, color options and similar things. Therefore, we are pretty sure that the Japanese manufacturer won’t bring too many novelties before complete overhaul.
When it comes to the expected redesign, it won’t happen that soon, but we have no doubt it will bring a lot of novelties. One of the things that come to mind is the comeback of the 3-door model. This version would probably come with a similar size to the current 5-door model, which means under 100 inches in wheelbase and excellent off-road performances. On the other side, the five-door model would be longer, though we don’t expect it would be as big as the previous-generation Grand Vitara.
The current model definitely won’t feature interior changes. The recent facelift has brought a new LCD instrument cluster screen and a couple of more tweaks, so we have no doubt that the current layout will remain untouched until the redesign. On the other side, the new model would certainly come with some changes. While some critics speak negatively about Vitara’s cabin quality and look, we are pretty sure that most lovers of this SUV don’t care about this aspect too much. Simply, people like this car because of the excellent drivetrain and affordable price, so we are pretty sure that the next generation won’t come with some significant improvements in terms of interior quality.
2021 Suzuki Grand Vitara Engine
The recent update has brought new engine options and we are pretty sure that they will carry on through the next generation. The good-old 1.6-liter naturally-aspirated engine is still available in some parts of the world, but most markets received a new 1.4-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 140 horsepower. The engine comes in pair with a 6-speed manual transmission and delivers some pretty decent performances. The same engine is available in a hybrid version, where it puts out 129 horsepower, but where the lack of power is compensated with the electric motor, so the output is rather similar to the gasoline version. Some sources also suggest a possible all-electric version for the next year, but the officials are still quiet on this matter.
2021 Suzuki Grand Vitara Release Date
The 2021 Suzuki Grand Vitara won’t feature bigger changes, so we expect to see it late in the year. On the other side, the redesigned model could come already in a year or two.
