Renault’s player in the segment of compact crossover has been around for about four years and considering that we’ve already seen a facelift for the 2020 model year, it’s expected that the 2021 Renault Koleos will come without more important changes and that the current generation will remain in production for a couple more years. The best we could see for the next year are some smaller updates in terms of new color options and similar things.
All this means that you may count on a crossover that competes in a highly demanding segment, but which definitely has a lot of things to offer to passengers. It is spacious and comfortable, while there is also a pretty generous list of standard and available features. Finally, there is a pretty wide engine offer, which includes bot diesel and gasoline options. The 2021 Renault Koleos should hit the market by the end of the year.
2021 Renault Koleos Redesign
In terms of base design characteristics, we definitely don’t expect to see any particular changes. Even the last-year facelift wasn’t particularly generous with novelties, so the 2021 Renault Koleos should carry on with the same styling. We saw a couple of tweaks last year, in terms of the revised front fascia and front bumper. However, most of the styling has remained the same.
Mechanically, this model shares most of its parts with Nissan Rogue. The Japanese counterpart is one of the best-selling models in the segment, so this was kinda expected. Still, the 2021 Renault Koleos will continue with a couple of different features, starting from a slightly revised suspension setup, which offers a ride quality that is slightly on the soft side. Other than that, things are largely the same. The two models even share the wheelbase, which goes around 106.5 inches.
As we’ve just mentioned, this model is good for about 106.5 inches in wheelbase, which makes it one of the longer models in the class. Of course, that’s highly beneficial in terms of interior space, so it’s no surprise that the amount of space is pretty solid for the class. Both rows offer a sufficient amount of legroom and can accommodate adults with ease. The cargo area is also pretty respectable for the class.
Besides the sufficient amount of space, this cabin also looks very nice. You may count on a typical Renault layout, which is all about comfort. Materials are nice, while aesthetics are on the simple side. The last-year update has also brought Apple CarPlay smartphone integration. All in all, this is a really nice place to be in.
2021 Renault Koleos Engines
The 2021 Renault Koleos is offered in different parts of the world, so it’s no wonder that the engine lineup includes both gasoline and diesel options. More precisely, there are two gasoline and two diesel options. When it comes to gasoline engines, the base one is a familiar 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit, which is good for about 150 horsepower. In many markets, you can also get a bigger and more powerful 2.5-liter unit, which puts out around 185 horsepower.
When it comes to diesel units, the first one is a 1.8-liter with around 150 horsepower. A bigger 2.0-liter dCi unit is good for about 190 horsepower. While gasoline models come with a CVT gearbox, diesel units primarily use manual transmission, though you can get them in pair with CVT in some markets as well.
2021 Renault Koleos Release Date and Price
Considering that there are no bigger changes to come for the next year, we presume that the 2021 Renault Koleos will arrive sometime late in the year. When it comes to the price, it will largely depend on the part of the world. For example, European models will go around 28.500 Euro. Some of the key competitors are models like Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, VW Tiguan, Mazda CX-5, Hyundai Tucson etc.
